Limiting beliefs are those sneaky thoughts that whisper,
"You're not good enough," "You can't do it," or "What if you fail?"
They thrive on fear, self-doubt, and past experiences, and they can manifest in various forms. Here are a few I’ve experienced personally or coached with high achieving clients:
- Impostor Syndrome: The nagging feeling that you're a fraud and will be exposed sooner or later.
- Fear of Failure: The paralyzing dread of making mistakes or taking risks.
- Perfectionism: The relentless pursuit of flawlessness, often leading to procrastination.
- Fixed Mindset: Believing that your abilities and intelligence are fixed, limiting your growth potential.
- Lack of Self-Compassion: Excessive self-criticism, which can lead to burnout and strained relationships.
- Micromanagement: The belief that others can't be trusted to handle tasks independently.
These definitions are clear, however, it isn’t always obvious when they are holding you back.
Look for: a feeling of anxiety, stalling on projects, lack of excitement, feeling alone.
These seem small at first, yet there is typically an underlying belief that is fuelling the lack of enthusiasm and productivity.

- Set Achievable Goals: Break down your goals into smaller, attainable steps to boost your confidence.
- Surround Yourself with Positivity: Cultivate a supportive environment and seek inspiration from role models.
I get it. It sounds too good to be true. Yet, this is the stuff that works.
And what we don’t realize or acknowledge is that the thinking we have been actively practicing is typically negative, insidious and not supporting our growth. You, me, all of us have been practicing the thinking that doesn’t work our whole lives. Stepping into Empowering Beliefs takes practice, support and often coaching.
One more thing... you have likely accomplished a lot on your own. THAT can be one of the biggest limiters of all. Believing you have to do it all yourself. You don't. In fact it is the slowest and toughest route to find your limiters on your own. Mentors, coaches, good friends. They are the resources. The people who have your best interests in mind, will reflect to you your behaviours and will be kind and honest with you. Do NOT believe you have to break through alone.
